It seems that all is well that ends well. Perdican and Camilla are finally admitting that they are in love. But this is not really a comedy. De Musset is saying that playing around with love can have disastrous consequences. As the cousins are declaring their love for each other and kissing, a scream is heard from behind the stage. Camilla has the final line in the play: "She is dead. Farewell Perdican." Rosette has killed herself. | |
